Boyle, the ninety-fourth Kentucky County was formed in 1842 from parts of Lincoln and Mercer Counties. It is named for John Boyle. Danville is its county seat. The courthouse burned in 1860. The Boyle County Clerk, whose duties are numerous and diverse, records and maintains various legal instruments and Fiscal Court records.
